Govs at war: Obi blasts Chime over comment on APGA

Governor Peter Obi has described as unacceptable the statement that All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is dead, as credited to the Governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime. Obi dismissed Chime’s statement as flawed, adding that the party was a mass movement that would not die just by the Enugu governor”s mere pronouncement. “Just like the Mosaic law was engraved in the hearts of the Jews. APGA is engraved in the hearts of our people,” he said.

On the crisis in APGA, Obi said there was no crisis in the strict sense of the word, but a normal disagreement inherent in organisation populated and manned by the imperfect sons of Adam. “What we are witnessing is a minor understanding which we will get over. People and organisation come out of such stronger and more promising and such will be APGA,” he said.

On his optimism about APGA, he said that APGA government were delivering democracy dividends to the people and as such, the party would remain the toast of the people. Obi was reacting to a statement credited to Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, describing APGA as an unserious party without succession plan, and that once Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in the state resolved their differences, the governorship in 2014 would be a walkover. Chime was also quoted as saying that records available to him had shown clearly that APGA no longer exists in Anambra State, which used to be its (APGA) stronghold.
