Presidency approves 6 DIGs
INDICATIONS emerged in Abuja, on Tuesday, that the presidency may have approved the names of some senior police officers made up of Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police for promotion as new Deputy Inspectors General of Police, that will constitute the new management team.
Police sources disclosed to the Nigerian Tribune that one of the officers shortlisted for promotion is Mr Christopher Ola, Assistant Inspector General in Charge of Zone 2.
Ola has served as AIG in charge of Police Staff College, Jos.
Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 3, Suleiman Dauda Fakai, is another officer shortlisted. Fakai was at several times, AIG Zone 5, Benin. He is scheduled to retire in 2019.
Also, in contention for the position of DIG is AIG Danlami Yar’Adua, who hails from Katsina State and is currently the AIG Bureau of Intelligence, Force Headquarters.
Mr Edgar Nanakumor, the Commissioner of Police in charge Administration ‘F’ dept, who hails from Bayelsa State, is also a possible candidate for the position of DIG. He is scheduled to retire in 2015.
Also shortlisted is Mr John Haruna, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Benue State command. Haruna was Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT and Niger State.
Mr Emmanuel Kachie Ugorji, a Commissioner of Police, who hails from Abia State, is also shortlisted for Deputy inspector General of Police.
Another shortlisted police officer is Mr Bukar Maina, the AIG in charge Border Patrol at Force headquarters.
