I Liberated Abia From Idolatry - Gov. Orji

Gov. Theodore Orji of Abia on Sunday said his administration liberated the state from the shackles of idolatry and other vices downgrading it.

Orji said this during a thanksgiving service to appreciate to God for a successful education and wedding ceremony of his daughter, Nneoma, now married to Obinna Araraume, the son of Sen. Ifeanyi Araraume in Umuahia.
The governor said God’s mercies to his administration and his family had been unprecedented, adding that he appreciated the stability in Abia since he assumed office.

God saw us through many tribulations, court cases and others. My daughter scaled through the crucible of education and got married to a good family. Abia is also one family under me and things are working well.

“That this government brought out Abia people from the shackles of idolatry to God is another good reason why we are thanking God,’’ Orji said.

He urged the ministers of God to continue to pray for peace in the state and urged the people of Abia to help sustain the existing peace.

Earlier in a sermon, Archbishop Ikechi Nwosu of the Anglican Diocese of Umuahia commended Orji and his family for living a life of thanksgiving to God.

Nwosu, who tagged his sermon, `A thanksgiving for edification’’, advised Nigerians to always thank God over good things He did in their lives.

“Something peculiar about offering thanksgiving to God is that it is through thanksgiving that we receive more blessing from God,’’ he said.

The wife of the governor, Mrs Odochi Orji, read the first Bible lesson from Chronicles, while her husband read the second lesson from Colossians.

The service was attended by many personalities including the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Emeka Ananaba, Sen. Sylvanus Ngele, former Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Acho Nwakama, and the speaker of Abia house of assembly.
