Abia State government is to establish a renal, dialysis and ophthalmology centre at the Abia Specialist and Diagnostic Centre, Umuahia. Governor Theodore Orji made this intention known during a business review meeting with the executives of Mecure Healthcare Limited in Umuahia yesterday. Orji in the meeting also stated his administration’s preparedness to continue partnering with the company to bring medical care to the people of the state. He expressed happiness that the partnership entered into with Mecure has yielded wonderful results, noting that it is the only public-private partnership that has worked in the state.
Chief Orji extolled the company for showing dexterity, sincerity and commitment and disclosed that government is ready to chart a new course with the company. Earlier, the chairman of the board of the company, Samir Udani and the managing director in their respective speeches asserted that Mecure has achieved a lot since entering into partnership with the Abia state government. They assured that the renal, dialysis and ophthalmology centres will be set up to the satisfaction of the state governor.
