The Nigerian Army on Wednesday beefed up security at the Ojo Cantonment, Lagos, after a two-year-old daughter of a Lieutenant Colonel was allegedly abducted by suspected kidnappers on Tuesday afternoon from the fort.
An investigation by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reveals that immediately the kidnapping was discovered on Tuesday, all entries and exits from the sprawling cantonment were shut with stern looking armed soldiers preventing movement.
A resident of the Ojo Cantonment told NAN that Tuesday's kidnapping would be the second abduction at the barracks within a month, as another two-year-old daughter of a Major, who was forcefully taken away from her parents' home in the barracks four weeks ago, had not been found.
NAN learnt that the armed abductors on Tuesday left a trail of blood, implying that one of the assailants or the victim must have been injured during the incident.
Residents of the large cantonment, NAN learnt, are now suspecting that they could be living with ritualists or have the criminals breaching barracks security at will, to perpetrate such dastardly acts.
As at 1.40 p.m. on Wednesday, the little girl had not been found, either dead or alive, NAN reports authoritatively.
Meanwhile, the army Public Relations Officer at 81 Div., Lagos, Lt.-Col. Kayode Ogunsanya, has confirmed the incident to NAN.
Ogunsanya also added that a number of suspects had been arrested in connection with kidnappings at the Ojo Cantonment.  (NAN)

The Victim's aunt told NOPRIN that the alleged rapist lured the little girl- who was hawking an item, to his apartment on the pretext of going to pay her for the item he bought from her. He raped the girl overnight while her guardians were searching for her.

The following morning, the alleged rapist put the girl on a bike that took her to her village where the guardians eventually found her. She's currently hospitalized at Okigwe General Hospital and in bad condition.

Please people who live in that area should get involved and contact the police station - and that number I put there, please call it and disturb the hell out of the IPO. Find out all you can about this case...the perpetrator must not get away this time!

This has got to stop. Something drastic has got to happen. Child rapists should be sentenced to life in prison or something like it. Why are some people so demented?

Austin Eguavoen the fumbler

National U-23 coach, Austin Eguavoen who failed to pick a ticket for Nigeria at next year's Olympics has decided to throw in the towel and pick a job with any of the teams at the Nigeria Premier League.
Eguavoen, who apologised to Nigerians on behalf of his team's inability to qualify for the Olympic, however, begged Nigerians to forgive him for failing. He said he should be held responsible for failing after getting all the support from the federation. "My contract is tied to this tournament with a target of reaching at least the semi finals of the Olympics in London but I have failed in that target. I apologise to Nigerians, the Football Federation and especially the NFF president Aminu Maigari who did everything humanly possible to ensure we qualify. Right now, I would just take two months out and maybe return to the local league" he stated.
Members of Nigeria's Under 23 soccer team.
He said Nigerians should forgive him. "First of all, football gave me what I have today. I thank every Nigerian, I thank every journalist, the Football Federation for being there for me and giving me all the support needed for this tournament. We came into this tournament prepared. Losing Kingsley Udoh in the first game, just three minutes was a big blow. Our first half against Senegal was awful but we were in our best against a very technical Algeria but unfortunately we rose up to the occasion late.
I apologise to Nigerians for our disappointing outing. I had an option to come and not to but I had confidence in this team unfortunately it didn't turn out the way we wanted. I am deeply sorry."
